Top 10 Photos of 2019

Another year has passed so what better time than to reflect on some of the best views or scenes from my travels during the year. Yes, its a year in review and some of my favorites from 2019. New England at its finest so to speak. Comment or let me know what yours favorite picture of 2019 may be.

Snow covered Wayside Grist Mill in Sudbury, MA

1 – This was just after the snowstorm on December 11th where it was a slightly heavy and wet snow so it stuck to the surface and trees. While driving through the area, I took a detour to pass this site knowing it would be a good scene and sure enough, there were people stopping momentarily to take in a few good shots. The sun was just peaking out and added some nice lighting.

Sunset on the Bourne Bridge in Bourne, MA – Cape Cod

2 – Coming back from Nantucket on March 28th and heading home I stopped and walked the canal trail to find a good location to shoot the sunset. I had about 45 minutes and just enough time to find a spot and setup to get this sunset and several others during the blue night fall.

Autumn Reflections on Harrisville Pond in Harrisville, NH

3 – An early morning sunrise from October 13th in Harrisville NH. Drove up here early in the morning to get the sunrise and some of the autumn colors and just after the sun rose up I took this shot. It was a smooth and clear pond reflection on this small jetty like area just past the main town and hosting the old church

Sunrise over Greenwich Bay from East Greenwich, RI

4 – A short walk, like 6 feet from the boat, and I am taking in a nice sunrise over the Greenwich Bay on September 2nd. A late summer sailing trip to East Greenwich and overnight stay made for some great sunrises and sunsets with the backdrops of sailboats enjoying the beautiful late summer weather.

Middle Covered Bridge in Woodstock, VT

5 – One of several trips to Woodstock, VT and always a tourist destination but this one was on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th so there was not a soul around and the town was completely empty. It was a ghost town but a nice quite time for taking pictures. A little snow would have done wonders but still a nice scenic view.

Sleepy Hollow Farm in Pomfret, VT

6 – Just north of Woodstock is this narrow dirt road that passes through several farms and ultimately to this quaint little farm. The summer is ideal for the green colors of Vermont and this June 15th trip proved to be a less than busy time to stop for some country living views of this picture perfect farmhouse

Morning drive through Northfield, NH

7 – A morning drive up through the southern points of New Hampshire and you’ll likely find some long and lonely windy roads and this October 13th colorful scenic drive. This was the plan for the most part and worked out as did some of the fall colors later on and heading up towards Keene, NH.

Sunset over Portsmouth, NH

8 – Heading home from visits in New Hampshire will usually generate a stop somewhere along the way and of course Portsmouth is one of my favorites. This September 19th shot of the sun setting late in the day over Portsmouth was a perfect example of why its all in the timing. This was right across the Piscataqua River from Badgers Island in Kittery, ME

NYFD Monument overlooking the New York City Skyline from Jersey City, NJ

9 – his is a perfect spot to take in the New York City skyline whether in the day or late at night. My overnight trip to NJ meant I could get up real early on June 4th and beat the traffic and crowds to take a nice morning view of the city. Its a special place if you are familiar with the whole 9/11 story and this towns contribution and the views are amazing.

Warwick Lighthouse in Warwick, RI

10 – Just off the tip of Warwick Point is the Warwick Lighthouse that is overlooking the Narragansett Bay. The weather was clear early in the day but became overcast as we past this on September 2nd. The wind was picking up but the rain never came as we sailed back to the marina in Portsmouth, RI.
